Using photocopies of distant relatives, a composition was designed on watercolor paper, using hand-painted papers, script, and parts of a lace table cloth. A series of these is currently in process.

This is part of a series of paintings I designed with my husband in mind. I dedicated all the fish collages and quilts to him. This "Fisher of Men" piece features a hand-painted fish and designer fabric machine sewn and mounted on watercolor paper.

This is part of a series of fabric and paper collages I created using leftover fabrics and painted collage papers. It is mounted on watercolor paper. Script penned on tissue paper was added for interest. The elements were all hand-sewn onto the base. The bird was hand-painted on watercolor paper then stitched to the surface. The netting was the black bag that avocados come in at the grocery store.

This started out as just a fox face painted on fabric with the intention of using it in a doll. As I embroidered details on the face and continued to work on it, I decided it needed to be in a small quilt. The tree trunk is a silk blouse with the perfect design for a tree bark. This was stitched onto a turquoise and gold background fabric that I painted using Golden Fluid acrylic paints. The foreground forest floor is a dark green purchased print that I embellished with beads and semi-precious stones.The leaves are various painted and purchased fabrics hand and machine sewn, then attached to stretched canvas.

This is one of my favorite collages using photographs, pieces of torn paintings, rice paper, and part of a sheer blouse mounted on 22” x 30” watercolor paper. It is a study in design.

"Heart and Soul 2" started with a hand-painted face. She is surrounded with various neutral fabrics and wedding dress lace. The small rust colored piece was a monoprint made using the seed pod from a red bud, my tree of hearts. In this series of small quilts mounted on stretched canvas, you'll find a heart embedded in them somewhere in the design.

This collage was designed over stretched canvas. The shell motifs are made from collagraphic plates I designed. All of the collage papers were hand-painted. The bird was painted on top of the finished collage then a cavity was created within the bird's wing where a shell resides. It is one of my favorite sea and shell pieces.

"Heart and Soul 4" started with a portrait painted on cloth of my friend, Suzanne. She is a special person in my life that seems always surrounded by "light." I used pieces of a wedding dress and designer fabrics pulled together as a quilt top and mounted it over stretched canvas. Most of the pieces are hand-sewn.

I love cats and continue to find different ways to play with them in my artwork. The cat's face was first painted on gray muslin. It was then surround by painted and found rice papers in my remnant box. Wedding lace was stitched onto the composition to soften the face. The finished collage was mounted on watercolor paper.

Autumn was designed using repurposed cloth, beads and sequins. Her face was hand-painted on muslin.
