Speaking of Fibers 2019! is a Missouri Fiber Artists (MoFA) members’ biennial; juried exhibit,
exploring fiber forms and materials. Our 2019 exhibit theme is “Stories of Importance ”.

To encourage the Voice of Fiber Arts, all works for this show must be connected to the theme “Stories
of Importance”. What has made a profound difference in your life and in the lives of those around
you? Be inspired by a story that has changed your community or our world? Think how Native
Americans have burned prairie grass for millennia, or how decisions by politicians affect our everyday

Artists’ statements, 300 characters for each artwork are to be submitted, in order to add to the juror’s
understanding of your artwork. An Artist’s Statement is a narrative about your work, not a description of
your work.

Juror: Fran Gardner will be our juror and our speaker at the opening. She is an educator USCL
Lancaster, University of South Carolina and a studio fiber artist. Gardner holds a BFA from Columbia
College, and an MFA from Vermont College, Norwich University.
