Fiber Section, St. Louis Artist Guild, 12 N Jackson, Clayton, MO 63105
March 6, 2019, 6:30 – 8:30, Kate Anderson, internationally known fiber artist, will be our speaker. Her work is currently on view at Craft Alliance. Kate has a broad range of experiences, gallery director, curator, juror, panelist and workshop leader.
In 1996 Kate began knotting, often she uses references to pop and mid-century imagery. Her knotting creates a snapshot of American history. She says: “Teapots are familiar and comfortable symbols. I create them as containers to hold iconic images…” The picture you see here is one of her dramatic teapots.
Broadly exhibited: Nationally at the Museum of Art and Design in New York, internationally at the National Craft Gallery of Irish Craft Council and the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan. Her work is also found in the Kamm Teapot Foundation Collection, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin.
